Little River Metalworks creates hand fabricated pewter table and wall accessories. Patterns reflecting the natural environment of the southern Maine coast surrounding the studio are transferred to sheet metal using hand-cut paper stencils as dies. The motifs are transferred to the sheet metal under pressure from a manually operated jeweler's rolling mill.
I have worked in silver and base metals for many years and more recently in pewter which I see as having a potential in contemporary design that is currently under explored. I'm particularly excited by the combination of pewter with a range of other materials including stone, wood & glass. I have been fascinated since childhood with mechanical connections and tools. My great grandfather was a blacksmith and tool maker in Fall River, Massachusetts.
